Introducing the Defined Autoworks RX-727P!

 

We are building no mere kit car, but transcendent entities of the RX-792P.

Available for both track racing or street use.

 

With only two Mazda RX792P race cars on the entire planet, safe to say most of us will never own one. Built in 1992 the Rx792p was the successor to the legendary 787b that won the 1991 LeMans. With rotary engines now illegal to race in group C, Mazda went to the GTP category with their same trusted R26B 4-rotor powerplant in 1992.

 After only one year of racing the new platform, Mazda pulled out of its factory efforts, leaving teams to fend for themselves. Limited testing and tiny budgets lead to the termination of the Rx-792p. Current Day- Mazda still campaigns this incredible car for vintage events. The other 792p is currently in a private collection.

As owner of Defined Autoworks, my dream was to offer a next level experience that can't be found anywhere else. After proving our 4-rotor powerplant across a DECADE of racing it is ready to power the RX-727P. Through a series of unimaginable events, I managed to be in possession of Rx792p complete body molds and many factory body parts. Using this we are producing a replica that you can own and it's near identical to the original.

 These machines utilize a chassis born from the DNA of motorsport. Space frame tubular steel construction with cantilever inboard suspension. We used a proven Daytona Prototype as a design foundation. Durable, inexpensive to fix and best of all motorsport grade technology.

At the core of each Rx-727P lies a powerplant that has been under racing developement for over 12 years. The Defined Autoworks prototype spec D26R engine achieves a very wide powerband, the most torque documented outside of factory mazda engines, and the highest power. Horsepower is 660-680 to the rear wheels using ordinary E85 straight from the gas station. This matches or exceeds Mazdas own R26b. Most replicas never get the powerplant accurate, usually a watered down street motor that shares nothing with the original race units. Ours is the complete opposite. The sound, performance, powerband and reliability all match Mazda racing program from the 90s.

Revving to an awe-inducing 9,500 rpm (10,000 rpm optional spec)  the sonic resonance is nothing short of spine-tingling. Our 4-rotor is an auditory and visceral experience, just like the original.

Lever actuated or paddle-shifted fully sequential transaxle, this is a race unit that can also be driven on the street. Optional h-pattern is available for the true die-hard enthusiasts.
